This is the incredible ‘Kindred Spirits’ sculpture created by artist Alex Pentek in Midleton, Cork. It was created in honour of the Choctaw Indians who upon hearing of the Great Hunger in Ireland in 1847, managed to raise $170 (a huge sum in those days) and send it to help relieve the suffering. In spite of what they were going through at the time themselves, they still had the generosity and kindness to think of us in Ireland. The sculpture on its own is such a beautiful work of art but with this story behind it, it would almost move you to tears. Incredible!
