Soaring from the Shadows (Framed)
One of my all-time favourite buildings in Cork city is the Old Hive Iron Works on the corner of Hanover Street and Washington Street. Thomas Addison Barnes founded the building in the 1800s, and it continued to produce iron castings well into the 19th century. I recently had the opportunity to photograph the building, and I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful shadow at the bottom, which added mood and intrigue. But, just as I pressed the shutter, a bird flew out of the shade, giving the shot a burst of energy and added interest.
